Overview
My AWS journey has focused on gaining practical experience by designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and improving cloud infrastructure. Every project has been built in my own AWS environment with an emphasis on learning cloud operations rather than simply following tutorials.
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
I am expanding my AWS environment using Terraform to move from manually created infrastructure toward repeatable Infrastructure as Code deployments.
- Provisioned AWS networking resources including a VPC, subnets, Internet Gateway, route tables, routes, and subnet associations.
- Configured Terraform variables and resource references to reduce hard-coded infrastructure dependencies.
- Practiced Terraform state management, drift detection, and reviewing infrastructure changes with Terraform plans.
- Configured an S3 remote backend and verified Terraform state storage in AWS.
- Troubleshot AWS authentication and IAM permissions during Terraform deployments.
- Implemented Git protections to prevent Terraform state, plan files, local configuration, and credentials from being committed to source control.

Completed Projects
- Built and migrated my portfolio from an EC2-hosted Apache website to a serverless architecture using Amazon S3 and CloudFront.
- Secured the portfolio using CloudFront Origin Access Control, HTTPS with AWS Certificate Manager, and Route 53 for the LojoCloud.dev domain.
- Created an AWS CLI deployment workflow for S3 synchronization and CloudFront cache invalidation.
- Built an AWS VPC lab with public and private subnets, routing, Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway, security groups, and IAM controls.
- Integrated my Ubuntu home server with Amazon CloudWatch Logs using the CloudWatch Agent for centralized Linux logging.
- Troubleshot real-world issues involving IAM permissions, DNS, CloudFront caching, AWS authentication, networking, and Linux configuration.

I continue expanding my AWS knowledge through hands-on projects while preparing for the AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate certification. Current areas of focus include:

What's Next
Future projects will focus on building increasingly production-like AWS environments including Infrastructure as Code, automated deployments, advanced monitoring, and security-focused cloud operations.
