AWS Cloud Portfolio & Home Lab
This project showcases my hands-on experience building and improving a cloud-hosted portfolio website while developing a home lab focused on cybersecurity, networking, and system administration. The goal has been to strengthen real-world skills through practical implementation and troubleshooting.
Cloud Infrastructure
- Deployed a personal portfolio website using AWS services.
- Initially hosted the website on an EC2 instance running Apache.
- Migrated the architecture to a serverless solution using S3 and CloudFront.
- Configured CloudFront for global content delivery and caching.
- Implemented Origin Access Control (OAC) to secure S3 content.
- Prepared for DNS management using Route 53.
System Administration & Troubleshooting
- Configured and managed Linux-based cloud instances.
- Resolved SSH authentication and key permission issues.
- Troubleshot Apache web server problems and stale content behavior.
- Managed file permissions and deployment workflows.
- Used AWS CLI and remote tools for administration and updates.
Website Development
- Built a custom HTML/CSS portfolio site.
- Designed scalable layout for future projects.
- Created project pages supporting multiple before-and-after images.
- Organized structure using index and project pages.
Home Lab & Security Monitoring
- Built a SOC-style lab using VirtualBox, Wazuh, and Kali Linux.
- Configured NAT and Host-Only networking for segmentation.
- Deployed Wazuh agents and monitoring infrastructure.
- Created custom detection rules for SSH brute-force attempts.
- Troubleshot agent connectivity and configuration issues.
Skills Demonstrated
- AWS Cloud Deployment (EC2, S3, CloudFront)
- Linux System Administration
- Networking & Access Control
- Web Hosting & Content Delivery
- Security Monitoring & Detection
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
Outcome
This project demonstrates my ability to design, deploy, troubleshoot, and improve both cloud and local lab environments. It reflects a hands-on approach to learning and highlights my progression toward cloud engineering and cybersecurity roles.
